At approximately 0400 hours Wednesday morning 24 April 2024, Rescue Squad 7 and Truck 7 were dispatched to the 17500 block of Whitestone Drive in Piney Point for a House Fire. Rescue Squad 7, Truck 7, and Chief 7A (Rector) responded on the Box with 10 Volunteers.
First arriving units from Second District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad found a large, 2 story single family home, with fire throughout. Crews started a defensive attack on the fire as other units started to arrive. With the volume of fire and two exposure issues, a second alarm was transmitted, adding Engine 72 with 4 additional Volunteers on the run.
Truck 7 arrived on the scene and was able to access an exposure driveway to set up to go heavy duty. Rescue Squad 7 arrived and was assigned RIT. Once Truck 7 was set up, a water supply was established and they operated the ladder pipe on the fire. Engines 72 arrived and assisted with water supply and fire suppression.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 1 hour with units from St. Mary’s and Calvert operating. The Units from Station 7 remained on the incident and returned to quarters at 0745 hours.
