At approximately 2312 hours Wednesday 11 November 2020, Hollywood VFD Raft 7 was dispatched for a vehicle in floodwater with 2 occupants trapped in the 41400 block of Medleys Neck Road in Leonardtown, Maryland. Utility 7, Raft 7, and Chief 7B (Rector) responded shortly after dispatch. First arriving units found a single vehicle that was swept off the roadway due to floodwaters. Utility 7 arrived on the scene and the crew launched the raft with personnel in full water rescue PPE. Both Raft 7 and Raft 5 made contact with the occupants and removed both persons from their vehicle. The occupants were transported by Raft 5 to an awaiting EMS unit for evaluation. The Units from Station 7 cleared the scene and returned to service a short time later.

This was one of 3 water rescue events handled overnight in St. Mary's County.

REMEMBER, DON'T DROWN, TURN AROUND!!!
