By Past Chief Charles Miedzinski (CP)
April 26, 2023

At approximately 1330 hours Wednesday, 26 April 2023, Engine 7 and Truck 7 were dispatched to the 37400 block of River Springs Road in Avenue for the House Fire. Engine 73, Truck 7, and Chief 7B (Brady) responded with 9 Volunteers shortly after dispatch. Units from Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene to find a 2 story, single family home, with fire showing from an attached garage and the 2nd floor of the house. Chief 5A (Hayden) established the Command and requested a Tanker Task Force. Tanker 74 responded with 2 additional Volunteers on the Tanker Task Force. Truck 7 arrived on the scene with the crew going to work, opening up for the Engine Companies operating. Engine 73 arrived on the scene with the crew deploying a line to the 2nd floor and the Engine heading to the draft site. Engine 73 established a fill site at a boat ramp close to the scene and supplied the Tankers on the fire ground. The bulk of the fire was knocked within 30 minutes and the fire was placed under control within an hour. Command scaled the assignment back to Units from Stations 5, 1, 2, and 7 to perform overhaul. The Units from Station 7 remained on the scene hitting hot spots and performing overhaul before being released. The Units from Station 7 returned to quarters at 1610 hours. Chief 7B (Brady) was assigned the Division 2 Supervisor.
