The Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department is seeking Firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians, and individuals looking to be a part of a family oriented, hard-charging and progressive firefighting organization. No Prior Training Required!
Be at least 16 years of age to join as a Probationary Member
Be at least 12 years of age to join the Cadet Program for ages 12 - 15
Fully complete the membership application including a full Criminal Background Check
Complete Pre-Basic In-House Training
Complete Firefighter I within 12 months (training provided)
Attend monthly Business Meetings and weekly Drills
Work departmental fundraising events such as our Annual Carnival
Benefits of Membership with HVFD:
Training is completely free (including textbooks): All Firefighting, Technical Rescue, and Emergency Medical training is paid for by the department and some courses will give transferable college credits.
All members are eligible to be awarded college scholarships offered by the St. Mary's County and the State of Maryland.
All members are eligible for retirement (Length of Service Award Program) after 20 years of active service.
All members receive a $4,000 Maryland State tax deduction
Many members have utilized the free training and networking opportunities to obtain successful careers in the Fire & EMS services.
