July 24, 2009

At 1740 hours Patuxent River Station 13 was dispatched along with Bay District Truck 3 to 1601 Chaffee Ct for the reported Townhouse Fire. Units from Company 13 arrived on the scene reporting a 2 story middle of the group Townhouse with fire showing from side "C" of the Structure. Chief 13A arrived on the scene and established the Chaffee Ct Command and requested 3 Engines and a Truck to respond from the county. This brought Engines from Station 3, Station 9, Station 6, and Tower 9 on the call. At 1752 hours Station 7 was alerted to fill in at Station 3 with Engine 74. Engine 74 responded with 4 volunteers leaving 2 crews back in quarters. A short time later Rescue Squad 7 was special called for manpower and breathing air. Rescue Squad 7 responded with 6 volunteers, leaving a third crew in quarters, and arrived on the scene going to work in the fire building with the crew of 6. The Squad Company performed overhaul functions in the fire building along with providing fans in the structure. Command placed the fire under control at 1820 hours holding all units. Rescue Squad 7 cleared the scene and returned to quarters at 1950 hours. Engine 74 cleared the transfer at Station 3 and returned to quarters at 2046 hours. The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office is investigating the fire and the cause is undetermined at this time.
