By Firefighter Ernest Rogers
April 30, 2008

At 2004 hours Company 9, Rescue Squad 7, EMS Station 79, 39, and the Medic Unit were dispatched to the intersection of St. Andrews Church Road and Wildewood Parkway for the Personal Injury Accident with Entrapment. Squad 7 responded moments later under the direction of Capt. Riley with a total of 6 volunteers. Bay District units arrived on the scene and advised a head on collision, one subject trapped and a door pop would be needed. Chief 3B arrived with the Rescue Squad and assumed the command as the crew from Rescue Squad 7 deployed the Combi-Tool, HURST O-Cutters, and finished stabilizing the vehicle that the Squad crew would be cutting on. The crew from Squad 7 removed the driver's side door off the vehicle and extricated the patient quickly. The crew from Engine 92 removed the patient from the second vehicle involved and found that both subjects involved would need to be flown out. Squad 7 remained on the scene and cleared the debris and removed fluids from the roadway before returning to service. Engine 92 handled the Landing Zone at the scene of the crash for Eagle 1 and Trooper 2. Squad 7 returned to service and arrived back home at 2046 hours.
