By Firefighter Ernest Rogers
August 9, 2007

At 2211 hours Company 1, Company 7, and EMS Station 19 were alerted to 22643 Partridge Way, in Leonardtown for the Residential Gas Leak. Engine 74 responded shortly after dispatch with 4 along with units from Company 1. As Engine 74 crossed into Company 1's first due Emergency Communications advised Leonardtown Units that they would be putting out a first due working house on the Southside of Leonardtown. Engine 74 was quickly diverted from the gas leak as the box was placed in service at 2220 hours.

At that time the working fire dispatch was sounded at 22152 Ryan Way off of Fairgrounds Road, alerting Company's 1, 9, 7, Truck 7, Tower 9, Water Supply 5, EMS Station 19, and 79 to the call. Chief 1A was first to arrive on location with a Working Fire. Once Command was established Company 6 and Company 3 were also brought to the fire to assist. As Engine 73 and Engine 74 made the turn onto Fairgrounds Road, a bright glow in the sky could be seen. Engine 10 was the first engine to arrive and advanced an attack line to the structure, which turned out being a large garage, with a motor home sitting inside. Engine 73 and Engine 74 arrived next as Engine 73 advanced a line off there piece to the structure as well. Engine 74 picked up Engine 10's line and supplied them water as Water Supply 5 had set up Water Supply at Leonardtown Middle School. The crew off of Engine 74 advanced a second line off of Engine 10 to assist in fire extinguishment. A short time later Truck Company 7 arrived on location and began there duties as a Truck Company. Once the fire had been extinguished and salvage and overhaul had been completed around mid night, units began to return to service. At around 0030 hours all Company 7 units had returned to service.
