| At 19:56 hours on Friday, July 27, 2007, Emergency Communications alerted Companies 1, 7, and 19 for a possible house fire, due to a lightning strike, at 22144 Hanover Woods Court, in Leonardtown. Company 7 had multiple crews due to the annual carnival and lightning in the area had put the evening's events on hold. Therefore, Engine 73 and Engine 74 responded immediately after dispatch with full crews. While en route, Engine 10 advised they were on the scene and upon further investigation, had fire on the main floor. The working fire dispatch was then sounded, bringing Companies 9 and 5. Within minutes the crew advised it was now going to be a basement fire. Engine 73 arrived on scene at 20:04 hours, picked up 10's line, and made entrance to the basement though the door on Side D. Engine 74 arrived moments later and supplied Engine 73. The crews from both engines then entered the dwelling through the door on Side A, to start a primary search on the 1st and 2nd floors, as well as ventilation. Once the primary searches were complete, the crews switched floors and completed secondary searches. All this was done while the crews from Engine 10 knocked the fire in the basement. Hollywood remained on scene assisting with over haul and clean up, and were returned to service around 20:50 hours. Units from Company 7 were back in quarters at 21:08 hours. |
