June 24, 2007

At 1510 hours Stations 9, Calvert 83, 7, and EMS Station 79 were dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Accident with one trapped in front of 46021 Patuxent Beach Road. Fire Chief 3 arrived on location and confirmed one trapped with a total of four patients, and three vehicles involved. At that time Engine 92 arrived and stabilized the vehicles and also secured the power to all three vehicles along with Rescue 83 who had arrived on the scene also. Chief 3 advised squad 7 there patient would be in the van sitting in the intersection. Squad 7 (F/F Riley) arrived on the scene at 1520 hours and the crew began to split up in crews to begin extrication. One crew made sure the vehicle was properly stabilized in deflating the tires and assisting Engine 92 with the step chocks. The second crew deployed the Spreaders (32'), the Combi tool, and the O-Cutters and began to extricate the subject from the vehicle. Within a short amount of time the door had been removed along with the B-Post, so the EMS could properly remove the subject from the vehicle. At 1529 hours Chief 3 advised fire board that extrication had been completed. The patient extricated was transported by Ambulance 839 to SMH priority two. A second subject in another vehicle was flown from the scene due to mechanism of injury, that patient was flown to PGGH by Eagle 2. At that time after most of the debris was removed from the roadway Squad 7 wrapped up and returned to service. Squad 7 returned to quarters at 1551 hours.
