At 1456 hours Company 7, 1, and EMS Station 79 were dispatched for the House Fire at 44919 Smith Nursery Road in Hollywood. Engine 73 under the direction of Captain Riley responded with 5 volunteers at 1458 hours with Truck 7 behind them under the direction of F/F M. Miedenzski. While en route to the scene fireboard advised that a propane tank possibly exploded on the back deck of a residence and was on fire. Engine 73 arrived on the scene at 1504 hours with a Two Story Single family with smoke showing from the rear. The crew advanced a 1 3/4" line to side "C" of the home to find a 10 x 20 section of the deck on fire. The crew from Engine 73 extinguished the fire quickly while the crew from Truck 7 searched the residence for extension with no smoke or fire found. After the fire was extingushed and it was confirmed no extension, Command held the units from Hollywood and returned the rest of the assignment. The Engine and Truck crew remained on the scene and performed overhaul on the back deck. The cause of the fire was determined to be from a defected propane tank that leaked during the ignition of a grill. Truck 7 and Engine 73 cleared the scene and went in quarters at 1610 hours.
