At 1136 hours, Engine 7, Engine 1, Engine 83, Tanker 1, Tanker 9, Tanker 3, Truck 7, Tower 9, Rescue Squad 3, EMS Station 79, and EMS Station 19 were dispatched to 45035 Smiths Nursery Road in Hollywood for the reported House Fire. Engine 72, Tanker 74, Truck 7, Rescue Squad 7, Chief 7A, Chief 7B, and Command 7 responded with 20 Volunteers on the incident.

Safety 7(Insley) was first to arrive at 1141 hours finding a large two story single family home(Approximately 7,000sq ft) with fire throughout the structure. Command 7(Captain Taylor) was next to arrive, establishing the Command and requested a 2nd Alarm be sounded. The 2nd Alarm brought an additional 3 Engines, 3 Tankers, 2 Trucks, and a Rescue Squad to the scene. Engine 72 arrived on location and stretched the 2.5" attack line to side "B" of the structure and started making an exterior attack. Truck 7 and Tanker 74 arrived next with Truck 7 setting up for Ladder Pipe Operation and Tanker 74 supplying Engine 72. The crews stretched a 2" attack line to side "A" of the structure while water supply was being established.

Due to the closest Hydrant being over 10 minutes(5 miles) away, a Tanker Shuttle was started with the Tankers on the 1st Alarm until a Water Supply could be established from the River. Water Supply 5 and Solomons Boat 83 arrived on location and both were able to gain a draft from the river to supply the fireground. Water Supply 5 supplied Tanker 74 and the attack pumper while Boat 83 and the Tanker Shuttle Operations supplied Truck 7 with the Ladder Pipe.

After approximately 1 hour of operating the attack lines and Ladder Pipe, the bulk of the fire was knocked. Crews remained on the scene for several hours hitting hot spot and performing overhaul. The units from Hollywood returned to quarters at 1527 hours. Tanker 74 has returned several times after this to hit additional flare ups and hot spots that continue to burn.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is conducting the investigation and the fire loss is deemed at $2 Million at this time. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. This structure was occupied at the time of this fire and everyone, including pets escaped this terrible fire.
