At 2255 hours Station 2, Charles Station 2, and Truck 7 were dispatched to 28765 Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville for a Fire Alarm. Prior to any units marking up responding, the Call was cancelled by Communications. Charles Engine 1002 was on the air and proceeded routine to the scene to turn around. When they arrived they found smoke coming from the roof of the building. Chief 2A who was also on the air in the area requested to "Fill the Box" dispatching Engine 7(3rd Due) and Truck 7(1st Due) on the Box Alarm. Engine 73 and Truck 7 responded shortly after dispatch with 8 Volunteers on the call.

Chief 2A established the Command with Charles Engine 1002 and Engine 21 operating. The crew found moderate smoke conditions inside the structure and tracked it down to a boiler system. Truck 7 arrived on location and positioned on Side "A" of the structure. The crews found no extension to the building with everything contained to the boiler unit. The assignment was scaled back to Station 2, Engine 1002, and Truck 7. Truck 7 assisted with ventilation before returning to service.

The Units from Station 7 returned to quarters at 2348 hours. This is another call where the Fire Alarm did its job.
