1st Due House Fire with One Occupant Burned

At 1921 hours Engine 7, Engine 2, Engine 9, Tanker 2, Tanker 1, Tanker 9, Truck 7, Rescue Squad 1, Ambulance 798, and Ambulance 299 were dispatched to 26145 Barnes Ct. in Oakville for the reported House Fire. Engine 72, Engine 73, Tanker 74, Truck 7, Rescue Squad 7, Chief 7, and Chief 7A made the response with 20 Volunteers.

While responding Communications advised that Maryland State Police were on the scene with smoke showing and one burn patient. The Medic Unit was added to the call with the report of one patient burned while units were still responding. Chief 7A and Engine 72 arrived on location with Engine 72 laying in from the closest intersection and Chief 7A establishing the Command. Units found a one story single family home with fire showing from side "A" of the structure. The crew from Engine 72 stretched an attack line for fire suppression while Truck 7 arrived on the scene. The crews from Engine 72 and Truck 7 performed fire attack and searched the structure. Engine 21 arrived and placed a second line in service with Chief 2B assuming the "Fire Attack Group Supervisor". Tanker 74 arrived and established a Water Supply with Tanker 24, Tanker 14, Engine 73, and Water Supply 5. Engine 73 and Water Supply 5 were sent to two different fill site locations but only one location was utilized. The crew of Engine 24, Rescue Squad 1, and Rescue Squad 7 assumed the Rapid Intervention with Chief 1A as the Group Supervisor.

Ambulance 798 evaluated the burn patient and requested MSP Aviation for transport to the Burn Center. The patient was found with 30% 2nd degree burns to the upper body and was a Priority 2 Category "B" Trauma. Tanker 93 established the Landing Zone for Trooper 7 at Oakville Elementary School and the patient was transported to MEDSTAR Washington.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down within 15 minutes of arrival of the units who found fire in 2 rooms and extension to the attic area of the house. All searches proved negative and Command held units from Company 7 and Company 2 for extensive overhaul. The units from Company 7 remained on the scene to complete overhaul and returned to service and quarters at 2208 hours.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is handling the investigation and no other injuries were reported.

Bay District Engine 31 filled in at Station 7 during the incident.
