One Trapped on the Thomas Johnson Bridge

At 1810 hours Rescue Squad 7 was alerted Mutual Aid to Calvert County, on the Thomas Johnson Bridge for the Motor Vehicle Accident. Rescue Squad 7 responded at dispatch with 5 Volunteers.

While responding, Communications received supplemental information of one person trapped in a vehicle. Units from Solomons arrived on location and confirmed one person severally trapped and started stabilizing the vehicle. Rescue Squad 7 arrived on location shortly after and started extricating the trapped occupant from the vehicle. Prior to completing the extrication, the patients condition deteriorated and the crews rapidly extricated the patient from the vehicle. The patient was turned over to Calvert Ambulance 837 as a priority 1 trauma code.

Calvert Ambulance 837 transported the patient to St. Mary's Hospital with part of the crew of Rescue Squad 7 on board to assist with CPR and patient care. The patient was turned over to the ER staff and Rescue Squad 7 returned to quarters at 1859 hours.
