Tragic Accident in Hollywood

At 1727 hours EMS Station 79, EMS Station 19, St. Mary's ALS, and Station 7 were dispatched to the area of 44300 Sotterley Lane for an injured person struck by a tree. Engine 73 responded at dispatch with 5 Volunteers. While Engine 73 was responding, Communication advised that the person was pinned under the tree and they were adding Rescue Squad 7 to the call. Rescue Squad 7 and Safety 7 marked up shortly after with an additional 5 Volunteers.

Engine 73 was the first unit to arrive at 1734 hours finding a male subject pinned under a large tree. Rescue Squad 7 and Safety 7 arrived moments later and went to work stabilizing the tree and preparing for extrication. Captain 7(Bean) established the Command and Safety 7(Insley) was the Rescue Group Supervisor. The crews from the Engine and Rescue Squad utilized wood cribbing and air bags to extricate the trapped subject. The patient was extricated in less than 15 minutes and turned over to waiting EMS. After further evaluation by EMS the patient was pronounced Priority 4 on the scene.

The units from Station 7 remained on the scene assisting the Police and returned to quarters at 1837 hours.
