Rescue Squad Assists on Mechanicsville Collision

At 0955 hours Station 2, Charles Squad 2, EMS Station 29, Charles EMS Station 2, and St. Mary's ALS were dispatched to Three Notch Road and Flora Corner Road in Mechanicsville for a Motor Vehicle Accident with people trapped. Rescue Squad 2 was first to arrive at 0959 hours and confirmed a collision with people trapped. At 1002 hours Rescue Squad 7, being on the air, requested to respond on the incident with Command and responded with Chief 7B and a total of 5 Volunteers.

Rescue Squad 7 arrived on location and went to work with Rescue Squad 2. Both Rescue Squad crews utilized the HURST Rescue Tools and removed the doors and the roof to free the trapped occupants. The extrication took approximately 20 minutes to complete and the occupants were moved for treatment. Once the occupants were removed from the vehicle, the crew of Rescue Squad 7 assisted with patient care and transport to Trooper 7.

A total of 4 patients were transported to the Hospital with 2 being transported by MSP Aviation to Children's Hospital in Washington. Chief 2 held the Command and Rescue Squad 7 returned to quarters at 1059 hours.
