One Trapped on St. John's Road

At 1959 hours Station 7, Rescue Squad 1, EMS Station 79, EMS Station 38, and St. Mary's ALS were dispatched to St. John's Road in the area of St. John's Church for a Motor Vehicle Accident with a Single Vehicle Overturned. Rescue Squad 7, Engine 72, Engine 73, Chief 7, and Chief 7A responded with 15 Volunteers to the incident.

Rescue Squad 7 arrived on the scene of a single vehicle on it's side with one person trapped. Chief 7 arrived on the scene and established the "St. John's" Command with Chief 7A handling the extrication group with Rescue Squad 7 and Engine 72. The crews worked to stabilize the vehicle using the Paratech Struts while a hose line was stretched for protection. The Rescue Squad's crew utilized the Hurst Cutters to extricate the single patient from the vehicle within 10 minutes of arrival.

The patient was evaluated and determined to be a Category "B" Priority 2 Trauma and would need to be transported to a Trauma Center by MSP Trooper 2. Engine 73 handled the Landing Zone in the Parking Lot of the St. John's School for Trooper 2 and the patient was transported to Prince George's Trauma Center.

Command was terminated and all units cleared the scene and returned to quarters at 2051 hours.
