This year the 2nd Annual Independence Day Celebration was another Huge Success. The day started off with the Car, Truck, and Bike show. We had 155 entries this year with everything from Chopper Motorcycles to Antique Fire Trucks. Over 40 trophies were given out for best in show awards. During the day Charlie Thompson was the DJ for the event until the Live Band of "No Green Jelly Benz" started to play around 7pm. Games were provided for kids along with Carnival Food for everyone. Along the games were being staffed by St Johns School with 100% of the proceeds going to them. At Dusk another spectacular Fireworks display was put on with thousands of on lookers. The parking lots were full around the area along with numerous fields, filled with members of the community who came out to see the HVFD Fireworks Show. Once the fireworks were complete the Band played on into the night. We hope everyone enjoyed the day and we look forward to seeing you again next year for the 3rd Annual Celebration.

Special thanks to our sponsors Burch Oil and PNC Bank in Hollywood. Also thanks to the fill in crews of Leonardtown VFD, Seventh District VFD, Bay District VFD, and Hollywood EMS for standing by at the event.

Another great job by the Committee and Membership to put this event together. Without the dedication of the Volunteers at HVFD this event would not be what it is today. Thanks again to everyone and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
