At 0358 hours Station 1 and Station 7 were dispatched to 23110 Leonard Hall Dr at the Carter Building for the Automatic Fire Alarm. Engine 73 responded with 4 volunteers and arrived on the scene with Engine 12 at 0407 hours with a 3 story commercial building, nothing showing. As Engine 12 was investigating inside they found water flowing from the 1st floor and an odor inside the building. At this point Chief 1A (Mattingly Jr) advised communications to fill the Box for the Building Fire and Engine 73 took position on Side "A" with their own hydrant. Filling the Box brought Truck 7 and Rescue Squad 7 to the call along with Engine 92 and Rescue Squad 5. The crew of Engine 73 advanced a handline to the building while the crew of Engine 12 recon the building. Engine 12's crew found a room on the first floor that had a small fire on a book shelf that was knocked down by the sprinkler system. Once it was found the fire had no extension, crews remained on the scene for aprox. hour and a half assisting with water removal. Company 7 units cleared the scene and returned to quarters at 0546 hours. Chief 1A held the Leonardtown Command.
