January 20, 2026

Jan. 20 at 11:32hrs Truck 7 and Engine 73 were dispatched to the 39000 block of Cooney Neck Rd in Mechancsville for the House Fire.

First arriving units arrived to find a one-story single family house with fire in the basement and fire on the 1st floor.
Engine Tanker 24 immediately deployed their initial attack line through the exterior basement entrance at the rear of the house, and began extinguishing fire in the basement. The next arriving engine companies backed up Engine Tanker 24 in the basement, and deployed a line to the first floor.

Truck 7 arrived shortly after Engine Tanker 24, as the first arriving special service, split the crew, and immediately went to work deploying ground ladders, then operating in the basement and first floor- completing searches, opening up for the engine companies, assisting with fire attack, and later opening up the roof.

Engine 73 operated as the 3rd due engine company and established a fill site for the tankers, due to this incident being in a non-hydrant area.

Engine Tanker 74 requested to run the box as an extra tanker with a crew of 4, and assisted at the scene with fire attack and overhaul.

Crews encountered heavy fire conditions, and challenges such as holes in the floor, and areas that were inaccessible due to partial collapses of the floor in the area of the garage, but exercised extreme caution in these areas.

All units operated for approximately 3 hours before returning to service.

Chief 2A held the command
Chief 7 operated as the basement division supervisor
