On Sunday 7 April 2024 at approximately 10:45am, units from Hollywood and surrounding departments responded to the area of Maryland Route 235 at Tom Hodges for the report of an auto accident with entrapment.

Rescue Squad 7, Engine 73, Safety Officer 7 (D. Insley), Chief 7A (Rector) and Chief 7 (Rogers) responded shortly after dispatch and arrived to find a t-bone style collision involving a motorcycle.

A rapid extrication of two trapped occupants was completed and patient care was initiated. ALS providers from St. Mary's County Department of Emergency Services assumed patient care on several patients.

Unfortunately, the adult male rider of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries on scene while two other patients were flown to nearby trauma centers for follow-on care. Maryland State Police - Aviation Command handled both patients.

This incident remains under investigation by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office accident reconstruction unit.

Our thoughts and prayers go to the families and loved ones effected by this tragedy.
