Hollywood VFD Responds To Woods Fire In First-Due

On Wednesday 13 March 2024 at approximately 2000 hours, units from Hollywood and surrounding departments were alerted for a “large brush fire” in Hollywood.

Engine 72, Tanker 74, Jeep 7, Chief 7A (Rector) and Chief 7 (Rogers) responded on the run with 14 personnel.

Crews found approximately .5 acre on fire in between two residences involving a shed. Personnel operated multiple hand lines while working to ensure the fire was contained prior to spreading to the nearby residences.

Two brush trucks from Bay District Volunteer Fire Department along with an engine and tanker from Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department assisted with personnel from Hollywood.

Units operated for 1.5 hours and the scene was turned over to the Maryland Department of Forestry for further assessment.

Chief 7 (Rogers) held the Hollywood command.
