Hollywood VFD Responds To Leonardtown For Serious MVA With Vehicle On Fire

At approximately 1315 hours Thursday 8 February 2024, Engine 7 and Rescue Squad 7 were dispatched to the 23700 block of Hollywood Road, in Leonardtown, for a Motor Vehicle Accident with a vehicle on fire. Engine 73, Rescue Squad 7, Chief 7B (R. Brady) and Safety 7 (D. Insley) responded at dispatch with 12 Volunteers. Engine 11 and the Units from Hollywood arrived simultaneously to find the Medical Duty Officer Vehicle, into a tree and on fire. Engine 11 deployed an attack line with the crew of Rescue Squad 7 and Engine 73 assisting. Once crews confirmed both occupants were out of the vehicle, Members started providing EMS care. Both occupants were deemed Traumas and Aviation was requested. MSP Trooper 2 and Trooper 7 both responded to the scene. Both patients were loaded for transport to the Landing Zone and turned over to the helicopters for transport to the Trauma Center. Units from Station 7 cleared the scene and returned to quarters at 1416 hours. Lieutenant 1 held the Leonardtown Command.

Maryland State Police are investigating this accident. Preliminary investigation is reporting the driver of the vehicle had a Medical Emergency, causing the vehicle to run off the road.
