By Past Chief Charles Miedzinski (CP)
September 9, 2023

At approximately 1340 hours Friday, 8 September 2023, Truck 7 and Tanker 7 were dispatched to the 25400 block of South Earnshaw Way, in Helen, for a House Fire. Truck 7, Tanker 74, Chief 7 (Rogers) and Chief 7B (R. Brady) responded with 10 Volunteers shortly after dispatch. Units from Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department, INC. arrived on the scene to find a one story, single family home, with fire in the basement. Chief 7 (Rogers) arrived on the scene and was assigned the Division 1 Supervisor. Truck 7 arrived on the scene and reported to the basement to assist with opening up for the Engine Company. Truck 7 was re-deployed to the first floor to open up for Units finding fire extension in the walls and attic. Tanker 74 arrived with the crew relieving the original crews that were operating in the basement. Crews had fire throughout the basement with extension to the first floor and the attic area. All fire was extinguished and the fire was placed under control within 30 minutes. The Units from Station 7 operated on the scene for over an hour, assisting with overhaul, before being released. Chief 2 (Trowbridge) held the Command and the Units from Station 7 returned to quarters at 1545 hours.

While the Truck and Tanker operated on this House Fire, Engine 73 handled a gas leak in Station 9's area.
