At approximately 1215 hours Tuesday 9 May 2023, Rescue Squad 7 was dispatched to the 22800 block of Newtown Neck Road in Leonardtown for an Auto Accident with a person trapped. Rescue Squad 7, Chief 7 (Rogers) and Chief 7B (Brady) responded at dispatch with 7 Volunteers. First arriving units from Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department found a single vehicle, that struck a pole and ended up in the woods, with the driver pinned. Rescue Squad 7 arrived on the scene and deployed the HURST Jaws of Life extrication tools and assisted on freeing the pinned driver. Crews worked to remove multiple doors and the roof to gain access to the driver. Once access was made, it was determined that the dash would need to be lifted to complete the extrication. Rescue Squad 7 deployed the 40" spreaders to lift the dash so the driver could be removed. The driver was removed and turned over to EMS for treatment and transport. The extrication was completed within 20 minutes of dispatch and Rescue Squad 7 picked up and returned to quarters at 1308 hours. Chief 1 (C. Bell) held the Command with Chief 7 (Rogers) as the Extrication Group Supervisor.
