At approximately 1700 hours Thursday, 4 May 2023, Engine 7 and Truck 7 were dispatched to the 27700 block of Baptist Church Road in Mechanicsville for the Garage Fire. Engine 72, Truck 7, and Chief 7A (Rector) responded shortly after dispatch with 10 Volunteers on the run. First arriving units from Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department, INC. found a 20x40 detached garage, well involved, with a one story single family home as an exposure. Tanker 74 was added to the assignment to fill out the Tanker response and responded with 2. Truck 7 arrived on the scene and went to work, assisting the Engine Companies operating with opening up. Engine 72 arrived on the scene, positioned at the folding tank, and supplied the fire ground from a draft. The crew of Engine 72 verified no extension inside the house then assisted with mopping up. Tanker 74 assisted in the Tanker shuttle to the scene and supported the fire ground. The fire was placed under control within 30 minutes and the assignment was scaled back. The Units from Station 7 remained on the scene, assisting with overhaul, before returning to service. Station 7 Units returned to quarters at 1850 hours. Chief 2A (J Raley) held the Mechanicsville Command.
