Hollywood VFD Responds First Due MVA With Entrapment On St. John’s Road

At approximately 1135 hours Wednesday, 26 October 2022, Station 7 was dispatched to the 42900 block of St. John's Road for a Motor Vehicle Accident with one trapped. Rescue Squad 7, Engine 73, Chief 7 (Rogers) and Chief 7A (Rector) responded with 12 Volunteers shortly after dispatch. Chief 7A (Rector) was first to arrive finding a single vehicle on it's side with one person trapped. Rescue Squad 7 arrived on the scene and went to work stabilizing the vehicle. Engine 73 arrived and stretched a safety line for the extrication. The crew of Rescue Squad 7 set up a tie-back system and began the extrication to remove the trapped driver. The crew of Rescue Squad 7 and Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad 1 utilized the HURST Jaws of Life to perform the extrication. The single occupant was extricated within 10 minutes of the arrival of Rescue Squad 7 and turned over to EMS. The Units from Station 7 picked up and returned to service a short time later. Chief 7A (Rector) held the Command with Chief 7 (Rogers) handling the Extrication Group. All Units returned to quarters at 1215 hours.
