Hollywood VFD Responds To Second Alarm Fire In Lexington Park

At approximately 0410 hours Thursday, 28 April 2022, Engine 7 and Rescue Squad 7 were dispatched to the 46500 block of Valley Court in Lexington Park for the Apartment Fire. Engine 72, Rescue Squad 7, Chief 7 (Rogers) and Chief 7A (Rector) responded with 9 Volunteers. Safety 9 (Adams) was first to arrive finding a two in the front, three in the rear apartment building with fire showing from the roof. A second alarm was requested immediately adding Engine 73 with 4 additional Volunteers to the run. Engine 72 arrived as the 2nd Engine, picking up Engine 132 supply line, with the crew stretching an attack line to the fire apartment. Rescue Squad 7 arrived on the scene with the crew performing searches, then opening up for the Engine Companies. Chief 7 (Rogers) arrived on the scene and assisted at the Command Post. Engine 73 arrived on the scene, picking up Engine 32 supply line, and assumed the 4th due Engine responsibilities and was tasked to take a line over ladder on side C of the building. An evacuation was requested early in the incident by Command due to the entire attic area of the apartment building on fire. Tower Ladder 9 was placed in service and extinguished the bulk of the fire from the elevated master stream. Crews regrouped and entered the structure to extinguish all remaining fire. The fire was placed under control within an hour of units arriving. Units remained on the scene performing overhaul for over an hour before being placed in service by Command. The Units from Station 7 returned to quarters at 0730 hours. Chief 7 (Rogers) assisted at the Command Post with Chief 7A (Rector) handling the Division 2 supervisor. State FM's are handling the investigation of the incident.
