Hollywood VFD Responds from Box Alarm in California to MVA With Door Pop

At approximately 1250 hours Saturday, 16 January 2021, Engine 7 and Rescue Squad 7 were alerted to the 22500 block of MacArthur Blvd for smoke in the building. Engine 73 and Rescue Squad 7 responded shortly after dispatch with 10 Volunteers. First arriving units found a one story strip mall with with an odor of electric. Engine 73 was requested to stage while Rescue Squad 7 was needed to proceed to the rear of the building (Charlie Side) and assist with the investigation. Rescue Squad 7 laddered the rear and checked the roof systems. While units were operating on the scene of the Box Alarm, St. Mary's Communications requested a unit to handle a collision in the area of the Box.

Engine 73 cleared the staging area and responded to Three Notch Road and Rue Purchase Road for the collision. Engine 73 arrived on the scene to find a four vehicle collision with one trapped. The crew stretched the bumper line, stabilized the vehicle, and utilized the Hurst eDraulics tool to extricate the trapped occupant. The patients were turned over to EMS for transport and Engine 73 returned to service.

Rescue Squad 7 cleared the Box and returned to service shortly after. Crews found a malfunctioning electrical board and secured the same. The units from Station 7 returned to quarters by 1400 hours.
