At approximately 1815 hours Thursday 4 June 2020, Station 7 was dispatched to the 44900 block of Smith's Nursery Road for the garage fire. Engine 73, Tanker 74, Rescue Squad 7, Chief 7A, and Chief 7B responded with 15 Volunteers. While units were responding, St. Mary's communications advised of multiple explosions and several burned. Chief 7A (Insley) arrived on the scene to find a 2 car garage with light smoke showing and established the Hollywood Command. Engine 73 arrived on the scene and stretched an attack line to the garage, extinguishing the remainder of fire. Chief 7B (Rector) was assigned the fire attack supervisor and requested EMS for two burn patients. The bulk of the fire was knocked by the homeowner prior to the arrival of the Engine Company. Command operated with the units from Station 7, Tanker 14, and Tower 9. Units performed overhaul and extinguished hot spots throughout the garage. The assignment was scaled back to the units from Hollywood and all other units returned to service. Trooper 2 transported one patient to the burn center and a second patient refused transport. Maryland State Fire Marshal's office is handling the investigation. Command was terminated and all units returned to service.
