At 0452 hours Station 1, Station 7, Station 5, and EMS Station 19 were dispatched to 24630 Maypole Road in Leonardtown for the House Fire. Engine 74 responded with 4 volunteers to the incident shortly after dispatch. Chief 1 arrived on location to find a 2 story single family with nothing showing from the outside. Engine 10 started working up the driveway while Engine 14, Engine 74, and Truck 1 staged on Maypole Rd. Due to the ice and snow, Engine 10 was unable to make it to the scene and advised Chief 1 the same. Chief 1 then established command and advised Communications that he had smoke conditions on the second floor and fire in the walls. Command advised Engine 54 to attempt a second driveway to the scene off of Friendship School Rd. Engine 54 arrived on the scene a short time later and advanced a 200 ft pre-connect to the house. Once it was found that the residence could be reached from the second driveway, command advised Truck 1 and Engine 74 to proceed back to the scene. Truck 1 arrived and laddered the structure while Engine 74 supplied Engine 54. The crew of Engine 74 assisted the volunteers from Leonardtown and Seventh District with opening up the Charlie Side of the House. The crews found fire in the walls on the first and second floors of the structure and knocked down all the visible fire within minutes. Engine 10, Engine 54, Engine 74, and Truck 1 operated on the scene for approximately 30 minutes before returning to service. Engine 74 returned to quarters at 0646 hours. Chief 1 Mattingly held the Command and it was found that the fire started from discarded ashes on the deck.
