Next to 25848 South Sandgates Rd for the House Fire

By Firefighter Bryan Riley
January 27, 2010

At 2153 hours Station 7, Station 2, Station 1, Water Supply 5, EMS Station 79 and EMS Station 29 were dispatched next to 25848 South Sandgates Rd in Hollywood for the reported House Fire. Engine 72 with 5 volunteers along with Chief 7 (Brady) and Chief 7A (Insley) responded immediately after dispatch. Truck 7, Engine 73, Engine 74, and Brush 7 also responded shortly after with an additional 14 volunteers to the call. Chief 7 was first to arrive to find a 1 story single family with fire showing from Side "A" of the Structure. Chief 7 established the "South Sandgates Command" and advised the units that it would be the first house in on South Sandgates Rd. Engine 72 arrived next, dropping a supply line from Three Notch Rd and advancing a 200' 1 3/4" handline to the front of the house. The crew from Engine 72 made entry into the structure and found fire in the "Alpha" quadrant of the structure. Engine 74 and the Truck arrived next with Engine 74 picking up the supply line and the crew backing up Engine 72. The Truck crew arrived and performed horizontal ventilation, lights and fans to the structure, laddered the roof and performed a primary search with negative results. It took volunteers approximately 15 minutes to place the fire under control and check for extension. With the fire under control Command released the units from Station 1 and Station 2 and held the units from Station 7 for overhaul. The State Fire Marshalls office is investigating the fire as possible electrical in nature. Command was terminated and all units returned to quarters at 2326 hours.
