Volunteers Respond to Serious Accident in the 1st Due

At 1131 hours Station 7, EMS Station 79, EMS Station 19, and the Medic unit were dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident at Three Notch Rd and Beck Rd in Hollywood. Rescue Squad 7 along with Chief 7 responded after dispatch and arrived on the scene at 1134 hours to find 2 vehicles in the roadway with 1 patient trapped in a passenger car. Chief 7(Albert) established the "Hollywood Command" and advised communications that they had 1 patient trapped and requested the helo for a Category B trauma. The crew on the Rescue Squad went to work immediately stabilizing the vehicle and preparing for extrication. The crew utilized the combi-tool, "O" cutters, and the spreaders to remove both drivers side doors and the "B" post to free the trapped occupant. The extrication was completed in 10 minutes from the time the Squad arrived on the scene. Two patients were transported by ground to SMH while the trapped occupant was transported by Trooper 7 as a category B Trauma. Engine 72 handled the landing zone for Trooper 7 and all units returned to service at 1211 hours.
