2nd Fire of the Day for Volunteers

By Captain Bryan Riley
July 1, 2008

At 2147 hours Station 9 (California), Station 3 (Lexington Park), Station 7 (Hollywood), Water Supply 5 (Seventh District), and EMS Station 39 were dispatched to 22233 Cosmos Ct in California for the reported Car on Fire next to the House. Engine 74, Truck 7, Chief 7A, and Chief 7 with 9 volunteers responded at the time of dispatch to the call. Engine 92 arrived on the scene reporting a 2 story single family with a working auto fire with extension to the House. The crew from Engine 92 advanced handlines and started making quick work of the fire. The units from Station 7 arrived on the scene at 2157 hours with the Truck crew reporting to the scene throwing ground ladders, opening up for the Engine Company, and checking for extension. The crew from Engine 74 staged at the command post while the rest of the units operated on the scene. The fire was reported under control within 20 minutes of the arriving units and scaled back to units from Station 9, Station 3, and Truck 7. During the incident Engine 73 transferred to Station 9 with 5 volunteers, leaving an additional crew back at the Station. All Company 7 units returned to quarters by 2315 hours. Chief 3 (Johnson) held the Cosmos Command while Chief 3A (Gould) was Operation.
