By Hollywood Volunteers
January 31, 2016

At 0829 hours, Hollywood Volunteers along with Company’s 1, 6, 9, and 5 were alerted for a reported House Fire off of Greenwells Hill Ln in Leonardtown. The caller indicated a fire in one of the bedrooms in the apartment. Engine 73 and Tanker 74 responded shortly after dispatch with a total of 8 personnel. Chief 1 arrived on location at 0832 hours to find a single story muti-family dwelling with heavy fire showing. The crew from Engine 11 pulled a 1 ¾” handline and went to work on extinguishing the fire.

Engine 73 arrived on location and pulled an additional 1 ¾” handline off of Engine 11 and went into the adjacent apartment to check for extension. Once the crew determined that conditions were normal they entered the apartment on fire and went to work with Engine 11. Tanker 74 arrived moments after Engine 73 and supplied Tanker 14 using the 4” supply line. The crew then pulled a third 1 ¾” handline and went around to side “Charlie” and entered the apartment. Searches in both apartments were negative. Command advised Water Supply 5 to establish a water supply site for Tankers to fill their tanks. Water Supply 5 established the fill site at Fenwick St and Eastwick Ln in Leonardtown.

The fire was placed under control at 0910 hours and Command requested a Fire Marshall. Command was terminated at 1040 hours and units from Hollywood returned to quarters at 1055 hours.

The Red Cross was requested to help the displaced occupants. The Maryland State Fire Marshall's Office have ruled the fire to be accidental.
