January 3, 2016

At 1758 hours on Sunday, Stations 5, 1, 2, 7, Truck 1, Squad 7, EMS 59 and EMS 19 were alerted to Woodbush Drive in Longview Beach for a reported house fire. Several calls were received at the 911 Center reporting heavy fire and smoke coming from the residence. Engine 72, Squad 7, and Chief 7 responded shortly after dispatch with 13 Volunteers. Chief 5 first and located a two story house with heavy fire showing throughout. Chief 5 established the Longview Beach Command. It was determined that the house was vacant.

Engine 52 arrived on the scene a laid out from Longview Blvd and Woodbush Dr. The crew from Engine 52 pulled a 1 ¾” attack line and began the initial attack on the bulk of the fire. Several lines were pulled by multiple crews to assist Engine 52’s crew with the attack. Multiple Tankers were dispatched to the scene to assist with the water supply. After several minutes of crews trying to make an attack on the fire Command advised all units to exit the structure and assume a defensive attack.

Engine 72 was advised by Command to respond to Lagoon Dr and establish a water supply. Squad 7 responded to the scene to assist crews with fire attack and clean up. Chief 7 was assigned the Fire Attack Group Supervisor by Command. Engine 72 filled several Tankers and sent them back to the scene with a full tank of water.

SMECO and a fire investigator were requested. Crews operated for approximately three hours before returning to quarters. The fire is currently under investigation.
