February 10, 2012
At 0604 hours Station 9, Station 3, Station 7, Station 83, EMS Station 38 and 39 were dispatched to 45394 Heather Street in Great Mills for the House Fire. Engine 72, Truck 7, and Chief 7A responded on the call with 9 volunteers. Chief 9B (Warren) was first to arrive finding a 2 story single family with nothing showing from side "A" of the Structure. Engine 91 arrived laying a supply line from the hydrant and after further investigation found the house was charged with smoke. Chief 9B reported to communicationas and incoming units that they had a possible basement fire and they would be holding all units. Engine 72 arrived and picked up the supply line and established a water supply for the fire ground. The crew from Engine 72 assisted Engine 91 and Engine 31 with opening up and checking for any additional fire. Truck 7 arrived and positioned on side "A" of the structure. The crew from Truck 7 provided ground ladders, ventilation, search, and placed the aerial to the roof. Chief 7 assumed the Command and held the units from Station 9, 3, and 7 returning the rest of the assignment. The fire was contained to the area around the furnace in the basement with little to no extension. Units from Station 7 remained on the scene assisting with salvage and overhaul before returning to quarters at 0725 hours. Chief 7 (Brady Jr.) held the Heather Street Command.
