By Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Riley
February 8, 2012

At 2337 hours Station 9, Station 3, Station 6, Station 7, EMS Station 38 and 39 were dispatched to 45955 Foxchase Drive for the Apartment Fire with people trapped. Engine 72, Truck 7, and Chief 7B responded with 9 volunteers on the run. Engine 91 was first to arrive finding a 2 story Apartment Building with nothing showing from side "A". The crew stretched a line to the apartment where they were met with moderate smoke condition. The crew advanced the line into the apartment and found a small fire in the living room and extinguished the same. While searching the apartment crews found one victim who was deceased and left them in place. As other units arrived on the scene and took position, Chief 3B arrived and established the Command. Engine 72 arrived and positioned on Foxchase Drive while the crew went to the scene. Truck 7 arrived and took position on Side "A" of the structure and the crew completed laddering the building and ventilated the second floor apartments. The assignment was quickly scaled back to units from Station 9, 3, and Truck 7. Engine 72 cleared the scene and transferred to Station 9 for a short period of time while they operated on the incident. Crews performed a secondary search of all of the apartments that came up negative. The fire held to the 1 apartment only and had burned itself almost completely out when the Fire Department arrived. Truck 7 remained on the scene for another 30 minutes before returning to quarters. Engine 72 cleared the transfer and returned to quarters at 0046 hours. Chief 3B (Stockwell) held the Command and the State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the Fire.
