By Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Riley
January 5, 2012

At 1135 hours Station 1, Station 7, Station 9, Station 6, Water Supply 5, EMS Station 19 and 79 were dispatched to the Willows Restaurant at 24509 Point Lookout Rd for the report of smoke in the building. Engine 74 and Truck 7 made the response shortly after dispatch with 8 volunteers. Engine 10 and Truck 1 were first to arrive with a 2 story Restaurant and nothing showing from Side A. Engine 74 arrived next, picking up Engine 10's line and establishing the Command with Engine 10's Officer as the Interior Supervisor. Truck 7 arrived and took position on the B/C corner of the structure and threw ground ladders to side C. The crews found smoke in the building and found the source to be a smoldering fire in the attic area caused by an electrical short. Crews extinguished the same and returned to service a short time later.

At 1519 hours Station 1, Station 7, Station 9, Station 6, Water Supply 5, EMS Station 19 and 79 were dispatched to 42465 St Johns Rd for the House Fire. Engine 74, Truck 7, Rescue Squad 7 and Chief 7A responded on the call with 14 volunteers. Engine 74 and Truck 7 arrived on the scene finding a 1 story single family with nothing showing from side A with Chief 7A establishing the Command. The crew advanced a handline to the structure were they found a fire out on the porch that had extended to the siding. Crews checked for any further extension to the structure and found none. The assignment was scaled back holding Engine Companies 7 & 1 and Truck 7. Crews remained on the scene and assisted the Fire Marshal before returning to quarters.
