At 1204 hours, Station 9, Rescue Squad 7, Rescue Squad 3, EMS Station 38, EMS Station 83, and St. Mary's ALS were dispatched to the area of the Gov. Thomas Johnson Bridge for a Motor Vehicle Accident reported Serious. Rescue Squad 7, Tanker 74, and Captain 7 responded shortly after dispatch with 8 Volunteers.

While units were responding, Communications gave supplemental information reporting a dump truck was overturned onto a vehicle and on fire. Captain 7 was first to arrive finding a two vehicle collision involving a dump truck and passenger car with both vehicles on fire and one occupant unaccounted for. Rescue Squad 3 was next to arrive and the crew stretched an attack line to the vehicles in an attempt for a rapid extrication. Engine 91, Rescue Squad 7 and Tanker 74 arrived next with all crews working to extinguish the fire. Tanker 74 supplied the units and crews operated with 3 attack lines. Chief 3 arrived and assumed Command of the Incident. One occupant of the dump truck was evaluated by EMS and transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital. It was found that the occupant of the passenger vehicle had succumbed to the injuries of the accident.

Command scaled the assignment back to Engine 91 and Tanker 74 to remain on the scene hitting hot spots and assisted the Police with the investigation. Rescue Squad 7 returned to quarters at 1259 hours but was requested back to the scene at 1416 hours to assist with the extrication.
